Jump ahead to June 2024. Another year gone and another Great Place to Work® Certification™ is in the books for Mainstreet. Winning just a single award is challenging enough, as the endorsement requires employees to fill out an anonymous 10-minute survey, complete with a written feedback section.
This year 90% of Mainstreet employees said it is a great place to work. The national average for companies in the U.S. is 57%.
When asked about the culture at Mainstreet, CEO John Gormley cited adaptation as a driving force behind the 2024 Great Place to Work® Certification™, “We adopted new organizational values at Mainstreet this year. They include mantras like 'We are change-makers,’ ‘we do the right thing’ and ‘we believe in every member' but one that stands out is, 'we make it easy.’"
He continued, speaking directly towards the member-centric mindset at Mainstreet. "Yes, it's true, we make things easy for our members but our employees also make it easy to come to work. They are some of the best colleagues around and I am so proud this is recognized through the Great Places to Work® Certification™.”
Mainstreet’s Chief Operations Officer Kim McCoy sends the survey out each year so she has seen the results as they roll in. When asked what’s changed at Mainstreet over the years to see such improved feedback she said, “We prioritized making sure the staff here knows we want to hear their thoughts, good or bad. We continually give the message that we want constructive criticism and idea sharing whenever anyone is open to it. With this survey being totally anonymous, we use it as a platform to foster more conversation and growth.”
In Chicagoland, the phrase “three-peat” echoes in the rafters of the ‘House that Jordan Built’ A.K.A. the United Center. Spearheaded by Michael Jordan, the Chicago Bulls in the 1990’s won two different three peat championships. This qualifies those teams as dynasty teams, breaking records and winning championship trophies for the better part of a decade.
